Ex-Pakenham and Gippsland Under-18s. He impressed with his athleticism and determination in his debut season and was voted Collingwood's best first year player. He initially struggled to recapture his best form in 2008, but then his tackling and workrate came to the fore. In 2010 he suffered meningitis at the start of the year and was so weak when he came out of hospital that he was told to walk at training for fear of a recurrence. He missed a spot in the 2010 Grand Final but replaced Leon Davis for the replay and earned a premiership medal. Illness waylaid him in 2011 then he did a lot of good work as a forward in 2012. In 2013 a hip injury took a large slice out of his season.
