Not one of the big names at Collingwood, but was still one of the most respected footballers at the club.

A small utility player who was a left foot kick, he played some of his greatest games in the most important matches of all.

In different finals he managed to quell both Laurie Nash and Bob Pratt.

He played in the back pocket in the premiership of 1935 and was centre half-back in the 1936. He also played in the three losing Grand Final sides of 1937 to 1939.

Recruited via VFA club Northcote, he was the brother of Bob Ross.
