The strong-marking Pitt came from SA club Norwood and was reasonably impressive in his season with Collingwood. But he opted to return to his career in the South Australian police force.
Footscray drafted him in 1996, but he stayed put. When he won Norwood's best and fairest in 1999 Melbourne renewed the AFL interest.
Pitt resigned from the police force and decided to have another go. But a shoulder injury delayed his start and he was given minimal chances.
