A tough ruckman from South Bendigo who played in the forward pocket in the 1936 flag side and in the 1938 and 1939 runner-up teams.
Knight to St Kilda as captain-coach in 1941, but held the job for only one season.
After a clash with his old club it was said that Alby Pannam had challenged him to a fight at Festival Hall any time he liked, but St Kilda stopped Knight from taking part and Pannam denied making the challenge.
He later played with Yarraville.
