Originally from Northcote but crossed to Fairfield in 1916 when the VFA went into recess. Collingwood tried to recruit him in 1918 but Northcote wouldn't provide a clearance, and he ended up spending most of that season with Collingwood Districts instead, before playing his only senior games with the Magpies in 1919. Played in the 1918 grand final with Districts, and was also part of their 1919 premiership.
