Played under former Magpie and legendary eastern suburbs sportsman Paddy Gilchrist at Mitcham for many years, including Premierships in 1919 and 1921. Was given his chance at Victoria Park in 1921 after starting the season with Mitcham, debuting halfway through the season. He managed a handful of games that year but returned to Mitcham after his stint with the Magpies ended.
