COLLINGWOOD'S EASY WIN. Collingwood, who were engaged with South Melbourne at Victoria Park, showed more resource and a good deal more judgement than South, who were fumbling considerably. The defence of the magpies was good, and South never scored a goal until the final quarter. Towards the end they improved considerably, serviceable handball being tried for the first time, and with these tactics for a finish they fairly held their own, but commenced much too late for success. The finish was: - COLLINGWOOD - 6 goals 15 behinds, 51 points. SOUTH MELBOURNE - 2 goals 9 behinds, 21 points. For the winners Brown, Laxton, Mutch, McHaile (who on the back lines showed greatly improved form), Wilson, Anderson, Hughes, and Sheehy were the best.
