The second of the three Jack Greens to pull on a Collingwood jumper, he gave the Magpies great service. He was 19th man in the losing 1939 Grand Final side and was used in a variety of roles that ranged across ruck, full-back, and centre half-back. Jack was the son of Jack W. Green, who played in Collingwood's 1917 premiership. His own son, Jack, also played at VFL level for the Magpies. Once his career was over, he became a playing-coach at Warragul.
