Basil was long believed to have played his one and only game for Collingwood in Round 18 of 1921. But research in 2020 by the Collingwood Archives team revealed that the game previously credited to him should in fact have been credited to another player, Clyde Smith. Although Basil was on Collingwood's list in 1921 he did not play a senior game with us (though he would go on to play with both South Melbourne and Richmond). Basil's record will eventually be removed from this site, and his debut number of 256 will be assumed by Clyde Smith (with Clyde's old debut number being decommissioned).
